BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Renowned guitarist Monvelyno hosted a listening party at Atelier Artist on Flatbush Avenue on Aug. 29, where he released three albums together: “Liminen,” “Black Empress” and “Sekou.”

The trilogy marks a surprising departure for the artist, featuring his vocals and songwriting over music driven by modern technology. The albums carry a dance-floor feel, with ethereal keyboards, percussive elements and understated, hauntingly beautiful guitar riffs.

The three albums are described as “each with its own world shaped by spirit, ancestry, Haiti’s identity.”

“Liminen” takes listeners across a threshold where spirit meets sound. Rooted in ancestral wisdom and carried by modern rhythms, the album brings tradition and innovation together.

“Black Empress” explores feminine power, celebrating the strength, beauty, wisdom and spirit of a woman who knows who she is. The album presents woman as creator, protector, nurturer, leader and force of nature.

“Sekou” is a musical cry for a wounded world and a call for hope. Rooted in Haiti’s heartbeat while speaking to every nation, the album explores the pain, resilience and unbreakable spirit of people living through uncertainty.

The listening party also opened an exhibit of Monvelyno’s paintings, which were displayed on the gallery walls.

The evening included a live drawing of an Ezili Heart symbol on the floor, along with performances by Jean Raymond Giglio on tambou with Paul Austerlitz on flute, followed later by Plezi Rara.

All three albums are available on Bandcamp
